Local culture, geography and climate are all influences of traditional clothing in India and the clothing varies greatly throughout the different parts of the country. Most Indian clothes are made from cotton which is ideally suits the hot weather experienced within the country. Due to the factor of Indian weather, which is mostly hot and rainy, the majority of Indians also wear sandals for footwear.
