Local culture, geography and climate are all influences of traditional clothing in India and the clothing varies greatly throughout the different parts of the country. Draped items of clothing such as a sari for women and dhoti or lungi for men are all popular styles of dress.  Stitched clothes such as churidar for women and kurta-pyjama and European-style trousers and shirts for men are also admired.
Most Indian clothes are made from cotton which is ideally suits the hot weather experienced within the country. Due to the factor of Indian weather, which is mostly hot and rainy, the majority of Indians also wear sandals for footwear. [Read more...]
